This program includes 4 levels: Bronze, Super Bronze, Silver and Gold
Any given level may take up to one year to master. Placement is determined by age and ability. Your child will be developing strength, flexibility, physical endurance, skill and form. As they move to a higher level they will be required to obtain a certain level of core and upper body strength. This development will increase their potential for mastering basic gymnastics skills and improve their fitness overall. It is very important that students master the basic form for skills to help with obtaining the next level and reduce injury.
What is form? It’s the alignment of the entire body during a skill.
Beginner gymnastics class that will focus on the development of basic gymnastics skills and form.
Major skills needed to advance to Super Bronze are: pullover on bars, backbend kick over, and a cartwheel on floor.
Gymnasts will continue to increase their strength, flexibility and conditioning. A strong emphasis is put on form.
Major skills needed in order to advance to Silver: back hip circle on bars, back walkover, round off on floor, and a handstand on low beam.
Gymnasts continue to develop their body strength, conditioning and flexibility.
Major skills needed to advance to Gold are: a stride circle on bars, back handspring with a light spot on floor, and a cartwheel on beam.
Gold is the highest level in our instructional gymnastics program. All gymnasts in this level work skills needed for our team.
Tryouts are held in June and those students who have the strength, form and skill will be invited to tryout. This decision is made by the coach.
